According to the child’s parent, a middle-aged man estimated to be in his 40s or 50s approached the girl and offered her bread. He reportedly told her she could come to his home for more bread. The girl refused, but the man allegedly chased her and forcibly placed the bread into the side pocket of her school bag, reported STOMP.

The girl immediately showed her mother the bread and recounted the incident. The parents said they promptly discarded the bread and subsequently filed a police report. The mother expressed shock that the incident occurred near the school, which is located behind the Istana and surrounded by high-end residences.

Police Confirm Report Lodged

In response to enquiries, the Singapore Police Force confirmed that a report had been lodged regarding the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate to ensure the safety of students in the area.

The parents have urged vigilance among other caregivers, noting that even areas considered safe can have potential risks. They emphasised the importance of supervising young children, especially when walking alone, and teaching them to reject approaches from strangers and immediately seek help from trusted adults.
