Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out coordinated raids across multiple locations, successfully apprehending the suspects and seizing cash totalling more than $2,000. In addition, three mobile phones and various items associated with vice activities were recovered.

The 35-year-old male suspect is alleged to have facilitated the operation of an online vice syndicate, with authorities pursuing further investigations under the Women’s Charter 1961. Meanwhile, the cases involving the 18 women remain under investigation.

Legal Framework and Potential Penalties

Under the Women’s Charter 1961, anyone found to be knowingly living, wholly or partially, on the earnings from another person’s prostitution faces severe penalties. Conviction can result in imprisonment for up to seven years, a fine of up to $100,000, or both.

Individuals who manage, assist in managing, or maintain a place of assignation are also liable under the law, with convictions carrying potential imprisonment of up to five years, a fine of up to $100,000, or both. These strict measures underscore Singapore’s firm stance against syndicated vice operations.

Police Statement and Public Advisory

Authorities emphasised that they will continue taking decisive action against those engaged in vice-related crimes. The raids demonstrate the police’s commitment to enforcing the law and protecting public order, particularly in cases involving organised syndicates operating in residential and commercial areas.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspected vice activity to the police. Authorities reminded citizens that participating in or facilitating such operations, even indirectly, can carry serious legal consequences.

The CID continues to investigate the 18 women involved, and further arrests or charges may follow as enquiries progress. Law enforcement agencies reiterated that combating vice is an ongoing priority, with strict penalties serving as a deterrent to potential offenders.
