A 26-year-old Malaysian Chinese man, Li Yunhong, who had gone missing for 36 hours after leaving home to look for a job in Kuala Lumpur, has safely returned to his family.
His elder brother, Li Yunxiang, 34, shared that Yunhong called their father at around 12.40am today to say he was on his way home. Shortly after, he arrived safely, putting an end to the family’s distress.
Li’s disappearance had drawn wide attention online after his family appealed for help, with many netizens and media outlets assisting in the search.
Left home to find job and accommodation
On the day he went missing, Yunhong had told his father around noon that he was heading to Cheras to search for a rental unit and job opportunities. He drove off in a black Perodua Myvi but failed to return home as expected.
By evening, attempts by his father to contact him were unsuccessful as his phone could not be reached. After hours of worry and no news, the family lodged a police report the following night.
Their appeal for help quickly spread across social media, with concerned members of the public sharing his photo and last known details in hopes of locating him.
Family expresses gratitude
The family has since expressed their heartfelt thanks to journalists, the police, and members of the public who played a part in spreading the word about his disappearance.
Li’s safe return has brought relief not only to his loved ones but also to many online who had followed the case closely.
Cases of missing persons often gain significant attention in Malaysia, with families turning to both the authorities and the public for assistance. While many end tragically, Yunhong’s case ended on a hopeful note, highlighting the importance of swift reporting and community support in such situations.
