A shocking road incident in Klang has sparked public outrage after a couple suspected of drug abuse caused an accident, assaulted the victims, and later disappeared despite promising to pay for damages. Police are now officially hunting them down.
The incident happened on 11 September at about 1pm near a traffic light in Bukit Tinggi. A Proton Gen2 suddenly reversed and slammed into a young couple’s new car. To their disbelief, the pair in the Gen2 not only denied responsibility but angrily accused the victims of being at fault. Matters escalated when they attacked the car owner in full view of stunned bystanders.
Police investigations later revealed that the culprits were not the registered owners of the car. To make matters worse, the vehicle had no valid road tax or insurance, and the driver did not even possess a driving licence.
Couple Fails to Honour Agreement After Assault
According to the victims, the assailants initially agreed to settle the matter by covering the repair costs. They even brought a guarantor to assure payment and promised to meet at the police station the following evening with the money.
However, when the victims turned up at the agreed time, only the guarantor appeared. The couple had vanished and ignored police calls, claiming vaguely that they were “still raising money” before switching off their phones. This led the authorities to open a case and begin a formal manhunt.
It was also revealed that the male suspect had more than ten prior criminal records, mostly drug-related, while his wife also had a history of narcotics offences.
Victim Urges Public Vigilance
Frustrated, the victim urged Malaysians to help in tracking the fugitives down, stressing that “hitting someone’s car is one thing, but beating people up after doing wrong is intolerable.”
She also reminded drivers to install dashcams and always record vehicle details such as licence plate numbers and photos in similar situations. Evidence, she said, can make all the difference when filing police reports.
The victim expressed gratitude to bystanders who stepped in to help during the ordeal and hopes that the viral circulation of the video will lead to the couple’s arrest soon.
“These drug offenders are a danger to society. They must be caught before they hurt anyone else,” she said.
