Taiwan MRT Kicker Gains 18K Followers After Revealing Designer Bag, Netizens Call Her “Elegant”

The Taiwanese woman who went viral for kicking an elderly passenger on the MRT has once again captured public attention — this time for her fashion sense rather than her actions.

Showed Off Her Designer Bag

On 30 September, the woman, known as Fumi on Instagram, posted a photo of a shopping bag from the Japanese designer brand Homme Plissé Issey Miyake. This was the same paper bag she had handed to another commuter moments before kicking a 73-year-old woman during the heated argument on the train.

In her post captioned, “Since everyone is curious about this product,” Fumi posed confidently with the bag beside her while wearing a colourful shawl. The upload quickly drew the attention of Taiwanese netizens.

From 2K to 18K Followers Overnight

When local media first noticed her account, Fumi had around 2,600 followers. Within days, her follower count skyrocketed to over 18,000.

The comment section of her posts was flooded with messages praising her “elegant” appearance and bold attitude. Some users even claimed that they had encountered the same elderly woman, surnamed Tseng, before — describing her as a troublemaker who frequently argued with passengers and demanded seats on the MRT.

Elderly Woman Later Arrested for Theft

In an unexpected turn of events, Tseng, the elderly woman involved in the incident, was arrested on 1 October for allegedly stealing from a convenience store.

Viral videos showed police escorting her away while she carried a bag identical to the one seen in the MRT altercation. Reports later revealed that Tseng had a criminal history, including several shoplifting cases in 2023. Although sentenced to 55 days in jail, she had never served her sentence.

The bizarre series of events has divided public opinion — while some continue to criticise Fumi’s violent act, others have begun admiring her sense of style and composure, calling her “the most fashionable MRT kicker ever seen in Taiwan.”
