Thai Man Locks Genitals with Fishing Rod Rings Out of Fear They’d Be Stolen
A 28-year-old man from Buriram Province, Thailand, left medical staff and rescuers in disbelief after he locked his own penis with two rings — one made of steel and another of plastic — allegedly because he feared someone would steal it.
According to local reports, the incident occurred on 6 October when Satuek Hospital sought help from the Wang Krut Rescue Unit. The hospital staff did not have the necessary equipment to remove the rings, which had caused the man’s genitals to swell alarmingly. Rescuers later revealed that the rings were believed to have come from a fishing rod.
When the team arrived, they found the man’s penis swollen to the size of a fist and visibly deformed due to restricted blood flow. Using a grinding machine, rescuers carefully cut through both rings in a 10-minute operation, ensuring that no further injury was inflicted on the patient.
Man Claimed He Feared His ‘Large’ Genitals Would Be Stolen
During the rescue, the man told emergency workers that he locked the rings around his penis because he was afraid someone — specifically a village health volunteer — might “take it away” due to its large size. He reportedly referred to it as a “size 69”, comparing it to the extra-large condom size he usually used.
His bizarre explanation stunned the rescue team, who later shared details of the case online. Photos circulated on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed rescuers using cutting tools during the delicate procedure.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the man was suffering from mental illness or under the influence of drugs. Thai media reported that a psychological assessment will be conducted to determine if the man requires further treatment or counselling.
