A treasure hunt game sweeping Singapore has crowned a new winner after a coveted gold coin was uncovered in Upper Thomson. A local participant named Jun Liang successfully located the prized Hunt The Mouse gold coin worth S$250,000 on 26 February, organisers confirmed on social media.
The gold coin was hidden as part of the Hunt The Mouse game, a city-wide cash treasure hunt organised by gamification firm Sqkii in partnership with fintech company Revolut. Participants are given a series of clues and grid coordinates that narrow down the possible locations for hidden coins across Singapore.
Found Under a Tree Along Tagore Road
According to Sqkii’s Facebook post, the gold coin was found under a tree along Tagore Road in the Upper Thomson area at around 11.32 pm on the night of the discovery. A short video shared by the organisers shows Jun Liang holding the SG60-edition coin and documenting the surrounding area before placing it back in position.
After finding the coin, Sqkii conducted a verification process to ensure that the player located it by correctly solving the hints and matching the corresponding grid coordinates. Following this review, they declared Jun Liang the rightful winner of the top prize and eligible to receive the S$250,000 reward.
Game Mechanics and Additional Prizes
The Hunt The Mouse campaign challenges players to decipher daily clues released on social media, which guide them through a real-world search for hidden cash prizes. In addition to the gold coin, numerous silver coins valued at at least S$500 were also distributed across Singapore for players to discover.
The event has attracted widespread interest, blending digital hints with physical exploration and encouraging players to engage with their surroundings in a fun and competitive way. Organisers have indicated that details about winners in the game’s other segments — including the “#IKWL” (I Know Where Liao) online gameplay category — will be released at a later date following an official determination event.
Renewed Interest in Treasure Hunts
Hunt The Mouse has become a familiar phenomenon in Singapore, building on previous years’ editions that similarly buried cash prizes — including gold and silver coins — for participants to find using clues shared online. Players often follow social media hints and map tools to narrow down potential treasure spots before physically searching the area, making it a popular blend of digital puzzle and real-world adventure that continues to capture local interest.
This win marks one of the largest cash prizes awarded in the game’s recent history and highlights the growing appeal of interactive treasure hunts in Singapore.
