SINGAPORE NOON WEATHER: UV INDEX HITS EXTREME LEVELS
SINGAPORE — The National Environment Agency (NEA) has reported that the Ultraviolet (UV) Index in Singapore reached Extreme levels earlier today, Monday, March 9, 2026.
As of approximately 2:00 PM, the UV Index peaked at a reading of 11, placing it in the highest possible category. Under these conditions, the risk of skin and eye damage is significantly accelerated, with sunburn possible in as little as 15 minutes for unprotected skin.

While the midday sun brought intense radiation, the afternoon weather remains transitional:

- Conditions: Cloudy with scattered thunderstorms expected later this afternoon.

Safety Recommendations
Authorities advise the public to take “special protection” measures when the index is in the Extreme band (11+):
- Avoid Direct Sun: Stay indoors or in the shade between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM when UV radiation is strongest.
- Protective Gear: Wear wide-brimmed hats, UV-blocking sunglasses, and long-sleeved clothing.
- Sunscreen: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every two hours.
The UV Index is expected to remain in the Extreme to Very High range over the next several days, including Tuesday and Wednesday, as Singapore continues through its high-radiation months of February and March.
