FIGHT IN GEYLANG ENDS UP WITH 1 MAN STABBED, MAN FIGHTING FOR LIFE IN HOSPITAL

A violent altercation in Singapore’s Geylang district left two men injured early in the morning on Mar. 9, with one elderly man reportedly suffering serious stab wounds and later taken to hospital unconscious.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred in Lorong 16 Geylang, an area known for its nightlife and red-light establishments. Authorities were alerted to the fight at around 8.15am.

According to Shin Min Daily News, When emergency responders arrived, they found two men involved in the confrontation. One of them, a 70-year-old man, had sustained severe injuries and was unconscious at the scene. Reports indicated that he had suffered stab wounds to the chest.

The other man involved in the altercation, a 48-year-old, was conscious when authorities arrived and was later taken to hospital as well.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT AT THE SCENE

According to police, the younger man was arrested for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the two individuals were acquainted with each other before the incident occurred.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that both injured men were transported to separate hospitals for treatment. One was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while the other was conveyed to Raffles Hospital.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details regarding the circumstances that led to the violent confrontation.

CRIME SCENE CORDONED OFF FOR INVESTIGATION

Following the incident, police sealed off a private carpark located next to a religious association building along Lorong 16.

When reporters arrived later in the morning, several police vehicles were present at the scene. The area had been cordoned off with tape while investigators carried out evidence collection.

Bloodstains could be seen on the pavement near a rubbish bin, suggesting that the struggle may have occurred in that area.

Plainclothes officers were also observed speaking to several individuals believed to be witnesses who may have seen or heard the altercation.

FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS UNDERWAY

According to The Straits Times, Investigators were later seen placing numbered evidence markers on the ground close to the bloodstains, indicating that forensic officers were documenting items that could be linked to the attack.

Shop owners and workers in nearby businesses reported that the police cordon was already in place earlier in the morning.

One traditional Chinese medicine shop owner said she noticed the scene had already been secured when she arrived to open her shop at around 8.30am.

Authorities have not yet released further updates about the condition of the elderly victim.

Police investigations into the Geylang stabbing remain ongoing as officers work to determine the circumstances that led to the confrontation between the two men.
