A Singapore man shared a bizarre encounter after he tried to help an individual who appeared to be lying on the ground at a traffic junction, only to be hugged by the man who seemingly wanted to stop him from contacting the police.
The unusual incident was described in a social media post said the situation happened earlier in the morning while he was passing by a junction.
Ng explained that he noticed a man lying on the ground and initially thought the individual might have collapsed or required medical assistance. Concerned about the man’s condition, he decided to walk over and check on him.
However, when he got closer, he realised the man was actually vaping and behaving oddly.
Ng suspected the man might have been under the influence of some form of substance. He mentioned that while he had previously seen videos online showing people behaving strangely after using substances through vape devices such as Kpod, this was the first time he had encountered something like it in real life.
Man Gets Up And Hugs Him To Stop Police Call
Wanting to ensure the man received help, Ng decided to call the police. While he was speaking to the operator and explaining the situation, the man suddenly got up and began staggering towards him.
As the man approached, he hugged Ng and repeatedly thanked him for trying to help.
However, according to Ng, the man also insisted that he was fine and urged him to end the call with the police.
It appeared that the man did not want the authorities to be involved and was trying to stop Ng from continuing the report.
Ng said the situation quickly became uncomfortable as the man moved very close to him while speaking and hugging him.
Not wanting to escalate the situation or agitate the individual, he tried to remain calm while gradually creating some distance between them.

After managing to move away slightly, Ng attempted to return to his phone call to update the police operator about what had happened.
However, by that time, the call had already ended as the officer on the other end had hung up.
Soon after, the man staggered away from the area and eventually fled the scene.
Ng described the experience as an “utterly weird morning”, adding that it was the first time he had encountered someone behaving this way in person.
