Large-Scale Mobile Network Disruption Hits Singtel And Gomo Users Across Singapore

Thousands of mobile users across Singapore experienced service disruptions after network issues affected customers of Singtel and its digital mobile service Gomo. The outage triggered widespread complaints online, with many subscribers reporting problems connecting to mobile data and phone services.

Reports of the disruption surfaced on the morning of March 16, when monitoring platform Downdetector began registering a sharp spike in user complaints. By around 10:59am, more than 5,800 reports had already been logged, indicating that the issue was affecting a significant number of users across the island.

Many customers took to social media platforms to express frustration after encountering difficulties making calls, sending messages, or accessing mobile internet services. The disruption appeared to impact both Singtel customers and Gomo subscribers, as the latter operates on Singtel’s 5G network infrastructure.

Users described sudden signal loss and unstable connections, with some saying their phones displayed network errors or dropped to emergency-only service.

Mobile Network Users Report Ongoing Connectivity Problems

Online outage tracking platforms showed that the issue was widely reported in multiple parts of Singapore. Complaints included failed calls, slow or unavailable mobile data, and intermittent signal reception.

As the complaints grew, Singtel acknowledged the problem publicly. In a statement shared on social media, the telecommunications company confirmed that it was aware of the service disruption and had begun investigating the cause.

Singtel also suggested a temporary troubleshooting step for affected customers. The company advised users to switch off their mobile devices and restart them in order to reconnect to the network.

The message read: “To restore the service, please turn off the device and turn it back on again. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience.”

However, several users reported that restarting their phones did not resolve the issue, suggesting that the outage might be linked to a wider network problem rather than individual device connectivity.

Gomo Customers Experience Similar Issues

Gomo, which is Singtel’s digital mobile brand, also issued a statement after its customers began experiencing the same network disruptions.

In a social media post released later in the morning, the company confirmed that it was aware of the service difficulties and was working to determine the cause. Similar advice was given to customers, encouraging them to restart their phones as a possible workaround.

Despite the guidance, some subscribers said the step did not restore their mobile signal.

Because Gomo relies entirely on Singtel’s network infrastructure, any technical issues affecting Singtel’s system can also impact Gomo users.

At the time of writing, both Singtel and Gomo stated that investigations into the outage were ongoing. The companies said they would provide further updates once more information about the cause of the disruption becomes available.

Telecommunications outages can affect a wide range of services, including mobile payments, navigation apps, and digital communications, highlighting the importance of stable network infrastructure in Singapore’s highly connected digital economy.

Customers experiencing continued connectivity problems are advised to monitor official updates from their mobile service providers while technical teams work to restore normal service levels.
