Swedish Man Jailed After Molesting Spree in S’pore Against 3 Women, Including While Out on Bail

A 58-year-old Swedish man has been sentenced to five months and six weeks in jail after molesting three women in separate incidents in Singapore. Two of the offences occurred on the same day, while the third took place when he was already out on court bail.

The offender, identified as Jan Roger Mattias Ditlofsson, pleaded guilty to three charges of using criminal force to outrage the modesty of women. The case was heard in a Singapore court, where prosecutors outlined a pattern of inappropriate behaviour involving multiple victims, The Straits Times reported.

Due to a court-imposed gag order protecting the victims, their identities cannot be disclosed. Authorities emphasised that such protections are common in cases involving sexual offences to safeguard victims’ privacy.

Incident Involving Female Chef at Restaurant

According to court documents, Ditlofsson arrived in Singapore on Oct. 1, 2025. His visit was reportedly intended to attend the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix.

Two days later, he consumed six to seven beers before entering a restaurant. Inside the establishment, he approached a 47-year-old female chef who was preparing a buffet setup.

He asked the chef where the swimming pool was located. After she responded to his question, Ditlofsson suddenly kissed her twice on the left cheek without her consent.

The woman was reportedly shocked and angered by the behaviour. After completing her shift, she informed her supervisor about the incident, which later became part of the police investigation.

Second Victim Targeted on Same Day

Later that same day, another incident occurred at the buffet section of a restaurant. A 60-year-old woman was filming the food selection when Ditlofsson walked past her.

Without warning, he grabbed the woman’s right breast. The victim immediately told her friend about what had happened, prompting a confrontation with the offender.

Restaurant staff subsequently contacted the authorities. Police officers arrived and arrested Ditlofsson on the same day following the report.

The swift response helped prevent further incidents at that location, though investigations later revealed that another offence occurred shortly afterwards.

Third Incident Happened While Accused Was Out on Bail

On a separate occasion, Ditlofsson visited another restaurant while he was already out on bail for the earlier incidents.

A 23-year-old waitress approached him and asked whether he wanted to order a drink. During the interaction, he introduced himself and extended his hand toward her.

Believing he wanted to shake hands, the waitress extended her hand in return. Instead, Ditlofsson kissed the back of her hand, an act that left the woman outraged and uncomfortable.

Prosecutors noted that all three offences were committed while Ditlofsson was intoxicated. However, they stressed that drunkenness does not excuse criminal conduct.

Court Highlights Disregard for Victims

The prosecution argued that Ditlofsson’s behaviour showed a clear lack of respect for women’s personal boundaries. According to the deputy public prosecutor, the victims were simply carrying out their work duties or enjoying their time in Singapore when the offences occurred.

His defence lawyer, Barry Douglas Delaney, told the court that the accused was Swedish and suggested that in parts of Europe, greeting someone with a kiss on the cheek can be a cultural practice.

However, after reviewing the available CCTV footage of the incidents, the lawyer acknowledged that the footage did not justify or excuse the actions of his client.

Under Penal Code 1871, individuals convicted of using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty can face up to three years in prison, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments. In this case, the court ultimately sentenced Ditlofsson to a total of five months and six weeks behind bars.
