Taiwanese Actress Opens Up About Deeply Personal Betrayal
Taiwanese actress Jiang Ping has once again drawn public attention after sharing the painful details behind her failed marriage, revealing a deeply personal betrayal that has left lasting emotional scars.
Speaking candidly on the talk show News Digging, the model-turned-actress recounted how she discovered her former husband had been unfaithful — not with a stranger, but with her own mother. The revelation, which she described as traumatic, led to a complete breakdown of family ties that has persisted for over two decades.
Despite having spoken about the incident previously, Jiang’s recent appearance has reignited public discussion across Taiwan, with many expressing shock at the circumstances surrounding her divorce and the emotional toll it has taken on her life.
Marriage Began With Defiance But Ended In Turmoil
Jiang shared that she married a screenwriter more than 12 years her senior when she was just 21 years old, going against her family’s objections. Her father had reportedly disapproved of the relationship from the beginning, sensing potential issues with her partner’s character.
The early years of the marriage were relatively stable, but cracks began to appear after five years. By the seventh year, Jiang said her husband had become verbally abusive and openly admitted that he had lost interest in her physically.
Suspecting infidelity, she confronted him repeatedly. However, the response she received was far more shocking than expected. Her husband allegedly told her he could “take care of both mother and daughter”, a remark that hinted at a disturbing reality she had yet to fully comprehend.
Affair Discovery Shatters Family Relationships
The truth soon emerged — the third party involved in the affair was her own mother. Jiang revealed that the relationship between her husband and her mother had occurred even while she was at home caring for their child, adding another layer of emotional distress to the situation.
Determined to confirm the truth, Jiang went to confront her mother directly. However, instead of receiving an explanation, her mother reportedly shut the door on her, refusing to engage.
In an attempt to shield her father from the pain, Jiang initially chose not to disclose what had happened. When he eventually learned of the affair, he was said to be deeply hurt, further fracturing the family dynamic.
Since then, Jiang and her mother have remained estranged, with their last encounter taking place at her grandmother’s funeral — a silent and distant interaction that underscored the irreversible damage done.
Lack of Remorse and Long-Term Emotional Impact
According to Jiang, her ex-husband showed no remorse for his actions. He allegedly claimed that her mother had initiated the relationship, while still attempting to maintain a physical relationship with Jiang during the marriage.
Despite the betrayal, Jiang admitted she initially tried to endure the situation, believing she could move past it without ending the marriage. However, the emotional strain eventually became overwhelming, leading her to prioritise her mental well-being and file for divorce.
Today, Jiang’s former husband is said to be in declining health and relies on their son for care. While she has moved on from the relationship, Jiang indicated that she would be willing to assist if necessary, particularly to ease the burden on her child.
Her story has since sparked wider conversations about emotional trauma, family boundaries, and the long-term psychological effects of betrayal, resonating with audiences far beyond Taiwan.
