A 29-year-old man has been arrested following a reported molestation incident involving a young girl in Woodlands, raising renewed concerns over public safety in residential neighbourhoods.
The case came to light on the afternoon of March 17, when authorities received a report at around 3.30pm. The incident allegedly took place along a sheltered walkway at Woodlands Street 81, where an 11-year-old girl was said to have been molested by an unknown man while walking alone.
The swift response by the Singapore Police Force led to a breakthrough in the case within 24 hours. Officers from the Woodlands Police Division conducted follow-up investigations and utilised images captured by police cameras and nearby CCTV systems to identify the suspect.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect’s identity was established quickly through surveillance footage analysis. He was subsequently arrested within a day of the initial report, highlighting the effectiveness of Singapore’s extensive security camera network and rapid investigative response.
The man is set to be charged in court on March 19 under Section 354(2) of the Penal Code 1871, which covers outrage of modesty involving victims below the age of 14. This is considered a serious offence under Singapore law, particularly given the young age of the victim.
