The incident, which took place during the late afternoon, was captured on video and circulated online, showing the pair engaged in a heated confrontation within the station premises. The situation quickly intensified, prompting intervention from station staff and concerned members of the public.

Police later confirmed that both individuals were arrested for affray, a serious public order offence involving fighting in a public place that causes alarm to others.

Tensions Escalate as Station Staff Intervene

Footage of the incident showed the two men being restrained and separated along the concourse area near the gantries. Witnesses reported loud shouting, aggressive gestures, and repeated attempts by both individuals to provoke each other into continuing the fight.

At one point during the altercation, the sound of breaking glass could be heard, adding to the tension and concern among nearby commuters. The pair were also seen taunting each other while onlookers gathered to watch the unfolding situation.

In a particularly alarming moment, one of the men, dressed in a long-sleeved top, charged towards the other and attempted to use a chair from the station as a weapon. The object was swiftly removed by a staff member, preventing further escalation.

The presence of station staff and members of the public played a key role in diffusing the situation before it spiralled further out of control.

Police Respond Quickly, Injuries Reported

According to authorities, a call for assistance was received at approximately 5:05pm. Officers arrived promptly at the scene to manage the situation and carry out the arrests.

Both men sustained injuries during the altercation. However, despite their condition, they declined medical assistance and were not conveyed to hospital.

Incidents such as these highlight ongoing concerns about public safety and commuter security within Singapore’s transport network. While such occurrences remain relatively rare, they can cause significant disruption and distress to passengers.
