I’m DONE. Just transferred my entire life savings out of DBS because I’m sick of their constant ‘banking disruptions.’

I cannot believe I am typing this, but I have officially broken up with DBS. After the Nth “banking services disruption” (which is just a fancy term for “our IT infrastructure has collapsed again“), I spent my lunch break moving every single dollar out of my DBS multiplier account.

I’m furious, I’m stressed, and quite frankly, I’m done.

This isn’t just an “inconvenience.” This is my financial security. When the app goes down, I can’t pay my helper. I can’t transfer money for urgent family bills. Last month, I was literally stuck at a merchant because the PayLah! QR code wouldn’t load, and I didn’t have enough physical cash. I had to awkwardly ask a friend to PayNow the shop and then pay my friend back later. It’s humiliating and completely unacceptable for a Tier-1 bank in a global financial hub like Singapore.

We are constantly being told to trust the system, to go cashless, to go digital. But the very bank that is supposed to be the pillar of stability in Singapore has a “critical infrastructure outage” every other quarter.

The last straw was this morning. I had an urgent invoice to pay (ironically, for my business’s own cloud hosting). Logged into DBS iBanking. “Service is temporarily unavailable.” Tried the mobile app. “Our digital services are currently experiencing higher than usual volume.” Yeah, right. Translated: Our servers have crashed. Again.

I ended up having to make a manual transfer from a secondary account I barely use at UOB. The transaction fees were annoying, but at least the service worked.

The irony is that DBS spends hundreds of millions on “innovation” and “awards.” What awards? Best bank at disappointing customers? The “reliability” of their digital banking system is a running joke. MAS needs to step in with more than just a fine. They need to impose real accountability.

So, I’ve moved everything. My multi-decade relationship is over. It took me an hour to set up all my PayNow and GIRO transfers again with another bank, but the peace of mind is worth it. I need a bank that prioritizes basic uptime and cybersecurity over flashy new app features nobody asked for.

Who are you guys using? Is OCBC any better? Is UOB reliable? I just want to know my money is safe and, more importantly, accessible when I need it.

TL;DR: Moved all my money from DBS to another bank today. I am sick of their frequent IT outages and digital service breakdowns. Looking for recommendations for a reliable bank in Singapore with 99.9% uptime.
