I just need to let it out because I cannot tahan anymore. Last year, I was feeling myself, okay? Got a bit of bonus, felt like a king, so I went and bought a used 3 Series. Want to look like those “High SES” entrepreneurs, want to impress the girls, and honestly, want my friends to see me arrive in style.
Fast forward 6 months: I want to cry but no tears left.
In half a year, this car spoil SIX TIMES. Every time I drive out, I’m not looking at the road; I’m looking at the dashboard praying the “Check Engine” light don’t come out like a jumpscare.
- Month 1: Coolant leak. Standard, I thought. Repair $800.
- Month 2: Transmission start to jerk like it’s dancing techno. Another $2k gone.
- Month 4: Oil gasket leak. My carpark lot looks like an abstract painting now.
- Month 6: Electronics haywire, windows cannot roll up during heavy rain. KNN.
Now my bank account is basically $0. No, wait, it’s negative because I took a personal loan to cover the “hidden” repairs that the dealer swear to me “don’t have one, brother.”
The worst part? My mother everyday nag me. “Boy ah, I told you already, don’t have the head don’t wear the big hat.” My friends all laughing behind my back. One of them actually had the cheek to tell me, “Bro, you try too hard already. You drive BMW but we go hawker center you still ask us to belanja you because you ‘no cash’.” The shame is real. Now I am stuck with a heavy installment, a car that lives in the workshop more than my house, and a reputation as the “Action” guy who is actually broke.
Moral of the story: If you want to show off, make sure you can actually afford the “show.” Don’t be like me, driving a Continental car but eating Maggi Mee everyday in the dark because I cannot pay the electricity bill.
Anyone want to buy 2nd hand BMW? Low mileage (because it’s always broken), one “careful” owner (carefully crying every night).
