My FT Manager is the Ultimate Wayang King, Force Us To CC Boss To Look Busy

Is it just me, or is the corporate culture in SG getting progressively more toxic? I cannot tahan my boss anymore. This guy is a literal “bootlicker extraordinaire” who probably spends more time polishing our Director’s shoes with his tongue than actually doing his job. He’s a Foreign Talent from South Asia, and while I have zero issues with where someone is from, I have a massive issue with this specific brand of “management style” he brought with him.

It’s the classic “Credit Grabber” starter pack.

Whenever the team pulls an all-nighter to fix a critical bug or rush a deck, he’s nowhere to be found. But the moment it’s time to present to the big bosses? Suddenly, he’s the lead architect of the entire solution. He spams the higher-ups with “updates” every five minutes, making it look like he’s personally micro-managing every single detail. It’s pure Wayang. He doesn’t contribute a single lick of technical value, but he sure knows how to craft an email that says “I directed my team to…” instead of “The team achieved…”

The latest nonsense? He officially mandated that we are forbidden from sending emails directly to him. Everything—and I mean everything, even a simple “noted with thanks”—must CC the Big Boss.

Why? Because he wants to show the Director how “busy” he is managing us. It’s a total power move to make himself look indispensable while treating us like low-level clerks who can’t be trusted to hit ‘send’ without supervision. It’s creating so much unnecessary noise in everyone’s inbox. If I have a quick internal question, I now have to “CC: Executive Director” just so this clown can get his visibility points.

He’s literally driving the local talent away. Two seniors already threw letter last month because they couldn’t stand the micromanagement and the lack of recognition. He doesn’t realize that in Singapore, we value efficiency and results, not who can suck up the hardest in a CC chain.

I’m so done with this “Yes Man” culture. He’s basically a human spam filter that only lets through things that make him look like a hero. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be on LinkedIn. My mental health is worth more than helping this guy climb the ladder while he steps on our heads.

TL;DR: Boss is a credit-stealing, boot-licking wayang king who forces us to CC the big boss in every tiny email just to boost his own ego. Stay away from MNCs with “Visibility” obsessed middle managers. 🚩🚩🚩
