Former Mediacorp actor-turned-hawker Huang Yiliang was taken to hospital after he was allegedly assaulted during a dispute at Circuit Road Hawker Centre on the evening of May 10.
The 64-year-old, who now runs seafood stall Old Fisherman, was reportedly conveyed by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital following the incident.
Videos circulating online showed Huang seated outside his stall wearing a red polo shirt while speaking to police officers as paramedics attended to him at the scene.
According to Huang, tensions escalated at around 6pm while he was preparing food orders at his stall. He alleged that the owner of the neighbouring Hainanese chicken rice stall had called over his female stall assistant to speak with her and her husband.
Huang claimed he instructed his assistant to return to work because she did not wish to engage with the couple. He further alleged that the pair then began shouting near his stall, apparently in an attempt to disrupt the queue of customers waiting for food.

Speaking about the incident, Huang alleged that he stepped out from his stall during the argument when he suddenly felt a blow to his right ear from behind, causing him to fall forward, reported The Straits Times.
He claimed the chicken rice stall owner’s husband was responsible for the assault.
According to Huang, he experienced pain around his ear and jaw after the incident, although there was reportedly no bleeding. Members of the public later assisted him to a nearby table before an ambulance arrived.
He was discharged from hospital later that night at around 10pm and was reportedly given three days of medical leave along with pain medication.
The police confirmed that a 64-year-old man had been assaulted by a 60-year-old man. Authorities added that the older man is currently assisting with investigations.
