12 Y.O BOY PENS SAD LETTER: “MY DRUNKARD FATHER LEAVES MY PREGNANT MOM HOME”

I’m writing this here because if I say this at home, my mom will just cry even more, and I cannot take it anymore.

Everyone in school thinks my life is damn shiok because my father has money. He drives a nice car, gives me a decent allowance, and we live in a big house. But honestly? I’d trade all of it just to have a normal family for once.

My father is a total joke. Every night, without fail, he comes back smelling like a brewery. Sometimes he’s so drunk he cannot even find the keyhole, and I have to be the one to open the door and drag him in while he’s shouting nonsense.

The worst part? My mom is literally 6 months pregnant. She’s already so tired and her legs are always swollen, but she still stays up waiting for him. And what does he do? He’s always out “working late,” but we all know he’s just at some KTV or hanging out with different women. My friend’s older brother saw him at Clarke Quay last week with some girl who definitely wasn’t my mom.

He thinks that just because he pays the bills and keeps us fed, he’s a “good father.” He always says, “I give you everything, what else you want?”

I don’t want your stupid money, leh. I want you to actually be a human being. I want you to stop making Mom cry every night. I want you to be here for my baby sister when she’s born instead of being passed out on the sofa or chasing some random woman outside.

I’m only 12, and I’m supposed to be studying for PSLE, but how to focus? Every time I open my textbook, I just hear them arguing or I hear Mom sobbing in the kitchen.

If this is what being a “successful man” in Singapore looks like, then I’d rather be poor. Money can buy a big house, but it cannot fix a broken family. To my “dad”: You’re not a provider, you’re just a loser with a bank account.

TL;DR: My father is a drunk, cheating mess who thinks money solves everything while my pregnant mom suffers. I’m done.
