The incident took place at the junction of Lavender Street and Kallang Bahru, an area known for heavy traffic flow towards Balestier Road. Videos circulating online showed members of the public rushing to help the injured woman moments after the crash.

Several bystanders were seen surrounding the victim as she lay motionless on the road. Some used umbrellas to shield her from the scorching afternoon heat while another person performed CPR in an attempt to revive her.

Photos from the scene also showed a visible trail of blood on the road and debris scattered across multiple lanes, suggesting the impact may have been severe.

Passers-By Rush To Help At Crash Scene

One of the vehicles involved was seen facing against the direction of traffic near the junction, while another damaged Honda had reportedly stopped several metres away along Lavender Street.

Images circulating on social media showed the Honda with major front-end damage, including a bent bonnet and a detached licence plate. Its driver-side door was also left open after the accident.

According to claims shared online, the Honda driver allegedly attempted to leave the scene after hitting the pedestrian but was unable to continue after the vehicle reportedly broke down further down the road.

Members of the public then allegedly detained the man until police officers arrived. Authorities have not publicly confirmed these claims.

The Singapore Police Force said they were alerted to the accident at around 12.30pm on May 17. The crash involved two cars and a pedestrian.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force conveyed the unconscious 58-year-old woman to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for emergency treatment.

Driver Arrested As Investigations Continue

Police confirmed that a 31-year-old male driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. Investigations are currently ongoing.

The incident has once again sparked discussions online about road safety in Singapore, especially at busy junctions where both motorists and pedestrians frequently compete for space during peak hours.

In recent months, several fatal traffic accidents involving pedestrians have shocked Singaporeans, leading to growing calls for stricter enforcement against reckless driving and harsher penalties for motorists who endanger lives.

Many netizens also praised the quick actions of members of the public who stepped in to perform CPR and assist the victim before paramedics arrived, saying their actions reflected the community spirit often seen during emergencies in Singapore.
