According to the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), they were alerted to the road traffic accident at around 2:15pm. The incident involved a car and a young pedestrian.

A video of the aftermath circulating online showed several members of the public gathered around an individual sitting in the middle of a two-lane road. Traffic in the area appeared to have come to a halt as bystanders rushed forward to assist.

Two individuals were later seen carrying the injured boy away from the road while others stood nearby monitoring the situation. Footage also showed a damaged traffic light lying on top of the vehicle involved in the accident, suggesting the impact may have been significant.

Boy Was Conscious When Taken To Hospital

SCDF confirmed that the injured pedestrian, a nine-year-old boy, was conscious when he was conveyed to National University Hospital for medical treatment.

At the time of writing, the extent of the boy’s injuries has not been disclosed.

Police investigations into the accident are currently ongoing. Authorities have not yet shared additional details on how the collision occurred or whether any offences are suspected.

The incident sparked concern online, with many Singaporeans expressing hopes for the child’s speedy recovery. Others also reminded drivers and pedestrians to remain alert, especially around residential neighbourhoods and school zones where children are commonly present.

Road Safety Concerns Continue In Singapore

The accident adds to growing public discussions surrounding road safety in Singapore, particularly involving young pedestrians. Areas near schools, housing estates and traffic junctions often see heavy human and vehicle traffic during afternoons and evenings.

In recent years, Singapore authorities have stepped up enforcement and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing traffic accidents involving vulnerable road users. These include enhanced road crossing safety measures, speed regulation reviews and educational programmes targeting both motorists and pedestrians.
