A 23-year-old Vietnamese TikTok influencer has shocked fans after revealing that she has been diagnosed with blood cancer following years of unhealthy lifestyle habits, including reportedly drinking up to five cups of bubble tea daily while barely consuming plain water.
According to reports from Taiwanese media, Vietnamese content creator Dan Thy, who has amassed over a million followers on TikTok, recently uploaded an emotional video announcing her diagnosis. The influencer, known for her dramatic makeup transformations and beauty-related short videos, appeared visibly weak and emotional while speaking to fans about her condition.
Dan Thy said she wanted to share her experience to warn young people not to neglect their health despite being young. She admitted that she had maintained extremely unhealthy habits over the past three years, often staying awake until six or seven in the morning to produce social media content.
She also confessed that she rarely drank plain water during that period, relying heavily on sugary milk tea and other sweet beverages instead. According to her, she consumed around four to five cups of bubble tea every single day.
Influencer Says She Ignored Warning Signs For Years
The influencer explained that she believed her body could handle the stress because she did not smoke or drink alcohol. However, she eventually began experiencing health problems before doctors confirmed that she had developed blood cancer.
Dan Thy also shared that she is preparing herself mentally for chemotherapy treatment, which could lead to hair loss and major changes to her appearance. Before starting treatment, she decided to film herself while she still looked healthy, saying she wanted to preserve memories of what she described as “the most beautiful period” of her life.
Her video quickly went viral across social media platforms, with hundreds of thousands of fans flooding the comments section with encouragement and support.
Many viewers also began discussing the health risks associated with excessive sugar consumption, poor sleep schedules, and high-caffeine drinks. Bubble tea, which remains hugely popular across Southeast Asia including Singapore, has long faced criticism over its high sugar content and calorie levels.
Social Media Users Reflect On Modern Lifestyle Habits
The case has sparked broader conversations online about modern lifestyle culture, especially among young content creators and office workers who often survive on sweet drinks, fast food, and minimal sleep.
Some netizens pointed out that while there is currently no proven scientific evidence directly linking bubble tea consumption alone to blood cancer, long-term unhealthy habits may weaken overall health and immunity.
Others praised Dan Thy for openly speaking about her illness instead of hiding it from the public. The influencer clarified that she was not seeking sympathy, but wanted to explain why she may disappear from social media during treatment.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Dan Thy said she plans to continue fighting the disease positively and hopes to document parts of her cancer journey if her condition allows it.
Her story has become a wake-up call for many younger social media users, with some admitting online that they are now reconsidering their own daily consumption of sugary drinks and unhealthy sleeping patterns.
