Is it just me, or is SG nightlife completely dead and sterile now?

Bro, I swear going out for a drink nowadays feels more like a financial penalty than actual fun. Anyone else feel like Singapore’s nightlife is just slowly dying?

Back then, we could lepak outside, grab some cheap drinks from the convenience store, and just vibe until early morning. Now? The whole scene just feels so controlled and sterile. It’s like the authorities want to ban everything bad, but ended up killing all the fun parts too.

Here is why I think the scene is totally rabak now:

The 10.30 PM Curse: Ever since they implemented the Liquor Control Act in 2015, you can’t even drink outside after 10.30pm. FnB places are rushing to take your last food order by 9-something and chasing you to finish your drinks by 10-plus so they can close.

Crazy Expensive: Alcohol prices are getting increasingly expensive, especially after you factor in the added GST and the 10% service charge. You might as well take a flight to Bangkok and party there for several nights for the price of a night out here.

Transport Nightmare: Public transportation shuts down at midnight, meaning you have to find alternative ways home. We all know that the escalating Grab and taxi fares late at night are just freaking expensive and completely kill the mood.

Even the clubs don’t feel the same anymore. Instead of people actually dancing and living in the moment, it’s just people aiming for VIP seats to take photos for their social media status, or worse, people going to a club just to sit alone at the sofa scrolling intently on their phones.

Are we officially just a “dead after 10pm” city now? Honestly, I’d rather just get a house party going with beer from NTUC and drink at home. Am I the only one who thinks the SG nightlife culture is long gone?
