An elderly woman was allegedly hit by a car along Yishun Ring Road on Friday morning, with witnesses reporting a disturbing scene involving a pool of blood on the road.
The accident reportedly occurred at around 9am on 23 May and later gained attention online after photos from the scene circulated on social media.
Images shared online showed the woman lying motionless on the road beside a grocery trolley bag, while a silver vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was stopped nearby.
Several members of the public were also seen gathering around the area, with some attempting to assist the injured woman while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
Witnesses Describe Chaotic Scene After Accident
According to witness accounts reported by Chinese media Lianhe Zaobao,, a noticeable pool of blood could allegedly be seen on the road following the incident.
Photos from the scene also showed a man wearing a yellow singlet seated on the road divider. He is believed to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident.
The exact circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear at the time of writing.
It is also unknown whether the elderly woman had been crossing the road when the accident occurred.
The incident sparked concern among residents and netizens online, with many expressing hopes that the woman would recover from her injuries.
SCDF Conveyed One Person To Khoo Teck Puat Hospital
In response to media queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that it was alerted to a road traffic accident along Yishun Ring Road.
SCDF added that one person was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the victim’s condition or whether any arrests were made following the incident.
Road accidents involving elderly pedestrians continue to remain a concern in Singapore, especially in residential estates where many seniors frequently travel on foot to nearby markets, hawker centres and neighbourhood amenities.
Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
