2 Women Caught On CCTV Stealing Shoes From Hougang Flat After Earlier Uniqlo Pants Theft

Two women who were previously linked to an alleged theft involving brand-new Uniqlo pants in Hougang have reportedly struck again, this time targeting shoe cabinets outside another residential unit in the same estate.

The latest incident allegedly took place at a block along Hougang Avenue 9 at around 5am on May 13, according to a resident who later discovered several pairs of shoes missing from outside her home.

The homeowner, who requested anonymity, said she only realised the footwear had disappeared while preparing for an overseas trip. After checking her home surveillance footage, she allegedly found clear recordings of two women rummaging through her shoe cabinet along the HDB corridor.

According to the resident, the footage showed the pair emerging from a nearby staircase before splitting up briefly along the corridor.

CCTV Footage Allegedly Shows Pair Opening Shoe Cabinet

In the video footage, one woman was reportedly dressed in a black sports bra paired with black shorts, while the second woman wore a black cropped top and grey shorts.

As they approached the unit, one of the women allegedly attempted to shield her face from the CCTV camera before both suspects crouched in front of the shoe cabinet.

Although the cabinet partially obstructed the camera’s view, the women were later seen leaving the area separately before regrouping near the staircase and walking off together.

The victim claimed that multiple footwear items had gradually gone missing over time and believes the same pair may be responsible for all the thefts.

The missing items allegedly include a pair of knee-high boots, several pairs of Charles & Keith sandals and heels, as well as a pair of Pedro shoes.

The total estimated value of the stolen footwear was said to be around S$350.

Victim Believes Suspects Match Women From Earlier Hougang Theft

The resident also noted striking similarities between the two women captured in the CCTV footage and suspects involved in an earlier reported theft case in Hougang.

In the previous incident, two women were allegedly caught on camera stealing two pairs of newly purchased Uniqlo pants left outside a residential unit. The clothing items were reportedly worth about S$100.

According to the victim, both cases involved women with similar body builds, clothing styles and behaviour patterns.

She said she hopes public awareness could help identify the individuals involved and assist with ongoing investigations.

The Singapore Police Force has confirmed that a police report was lodged regarding the latest incident. Investigations are currently ongoing.

The case has also sparked renewed discussions online about the risks of leaving personal belongings unattended along HDB corridors, even in residential estates generally considered safe.
