Photos and videos circulating online showed the heavily damaged white minibus stopped beside a fallen lamppost, with emergency responders and Traffic Police officers attending to the scene.

Minibus Believed To Have Self-Skidded

According to the Singapore Police Force, the accident involved only the minibus, which was believed to have self-skidded before crashing into a lamppost.

Police said they were alerted to the incident at about 4pm.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force also responded to the scene and found the driver trapped inside his seat.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the man from the wreckage before paramedics attended to him.

The 50-year-old driver was later conveyed unconscious to the National University Hospital for emergency treatment.

Another individual at the scene was assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to hospital.

Investigations into the accident are currently ongoing.

Accident Caused Major Traffic Jam In Tengah

The crash also resulted in significant traffic congestion after the fallen lamppost blocked part of Tengah Link.

Videos shared online showed long queues of vehicles and public buses stranded along Bukit Batok Road as drivers were unable to turn into the affected road.

At least 14 buses were reportedly stuck in the area due to the blockage.

Public transport operator Tower Transit later announced that several bus services heading towards Tengah had to be temporarily diverted because of the accident.

A netizen claimed the road obstruction was only fully cleared after 8pm, when contractors arrived to cut the fallen lamppost into several sections before cordoning off the damaged area.

The incident has sparked discussions online about road safety and driver fatigue, especially among commercial vehicle operators who spend long hours behind the wheel.

Some netizens also pointed out the potential dangers of wet roads and sudden skidding incidents, particularly in newer estate areas where road layouts may still be unfamiliar to some drivers.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the self-skid or whether weather conditions played a role in the crash.
