A 14-year-old girl was allegedly ambushed and assaulted by a group of youths at a shopping mall in Orchard Road, resulting in injuries that reportedly required nine days of hospitalisation.
Police have since arrested seven girls aged between 12 and 17 in connection with the incident, which is being investigated as a case of rioting.
The alleged attack is believed to have taken place on the evening of May 3 at a carpark within a shopping centre along Orchard Road.
According to the victim’s mother, her daughter had gone out to meet friends for dinner before being persuaded to head to a carpark located on one of the upper levels of the building.
Allegedly Surrounded And Attacked

The teenager was reportedly met by a group of girls at the location, several of whom she had previously interacted with online.
What followed was an alleged assault that lasted for an extended period of time.
According to accounts provided by the victim’s family, the girl was surrounded by multiple individuals and repeatedly punched, slapped and kicked.
The attack allegedly continued for around 40 minutes, leaving the teenager unable to escape the situation.
Witness footage that later circulated online appeared to show a girl being struck repeatedly while on the ground as others stood nearby.
The alleged assault only ended after the victim suffered several blows to the head.
Teenager Later Taken To Hospital
After the incident, the girl reportedly managed to leave the area and make her way to her grandmother’s home in Bedok.
She later contacted her mother and informed her about what had happened.
Emergency services were subsequently alerted, and the teenager was conveyed to hospital for treatment.
Her mother later claimed that the girl suffered extensive bruising across her body, swelling to her face, recurring nosebleeds, ringing in her ears and a noticeable bump on her head.
The victim was reportedly warded for nine days and continues to undergo medical treatment and counselling.
Mother Says Daughter Continues To Struggle
According to her family, the teenager remains traumatised by the incident.
Her mother said the girl experiences emotional distress whenever she recalls the alleged attack and continues to suffer from mood swings and anxiety.
The family has since taken steps to support her recovery, including spending time away together in an effort to help her regain confidence and overcome the ordeal.
The mother also claimed that neither the girls involved nor their families have reached out with an apology following the incident.
Police confirmed that seven girls, including one as young as 12 years old, have been arrested in connection with the case.
Investigations are ongoing.
The incident has sparked renewed discussions online about youth violence, social media friendships and the potential dangers of conflicts escalating among teenagers outside of school environments.
