An 86-year-old man was taken to hospital after being involved in a road accident with a motorcycle in Chinatown on June 5.
The incident occurred at around noon at the junction of Upper Cross Street and Eu Tong Sen Street, a busy area known for heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Photos circulating online showed the elderly man lying on the roadway following the collision, while members of the public quickly rushed over to render assistance. Several passers-by were seen surrounding the injured pedestrian as they waited for emergency services to arrive.
Large crowds often gather in the Chinatown area, especially around lunchtime, making road safety a concern for both motorists and pedestrians. The accident has once again highlighted the risks faced by elderly residents when navigating busy city streets.
Members Of Public Assisted Both Victims

Images from the scene showed a motorcycle lying on its side a short distance from where the elderly man had fallen.
Witnesses appeared to help not only the pedestrian but also the rider, who was reportedly sitting on the road wearing a helmet following the collision.
In another photograph taken later, Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel could be seen attending to the injured parties. An ambulance was parked in one of the traffic lanes as paramedics assessed the situation.
The elderly man was seen lying on the road surface with one of his slippers nearby, while the motorcyclist remained seated beside the fallen motorcycle.
The quick actions of bystanders may have helped provide comfort and support before emergency responders arrived.
Police Investigations Ongoing
According to the authorities, the accident involved an 86-year-old male pedestrian and a motorcycle.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force conveyed the injured pedestrian to Singapore General Hospital. He was reported to be conscious when taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old male motorcyclist is assisting police with investigations.
The circumstances leading to the collision have not been disclosed, and investigations remain ongoing.
Road accidents involving elderly pedestrians continue to draw public attention in Singapore due to the increased vulnerability of senior citizens. With an ageing population and busy urban roads, traffic safety experts have frequently emphasised the importance of vigilance from both motorists and pedestrians, particularly at major junctions and high-footfall areas.
Authorities have not released further information regarding the extent of the pedestrian’s injuries or whether any offences are suspected at this stage. More details are expected once investigations are completed.
