The incident occurred at the junction of Edgefield Plains and Punggol Drive at around 8:15pm, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Videos circulating online showed a black vehicle resting on its side near a pedestrian crossing after what appeared to be a serious collision.

Traffic Light Knocked Down During Crash

The force of the impact reportedly sent the vehicle crashing into roadside barriers before knocking over a traffic light.

Debris from the collision was scattered across the junction, while the fallen traffic signal landed on the opposite side of the road.

A crowd quickly gathered around the overturned vehicle as bystanders assessed the situation and attempted to assist.

Bystanders Make Repeated Rescue Attempts

Footage from the scene showed several individuals trying different methods to gain access to the vehicle.

One man wearing a food delivery rider shirt repeatedly struck the windscreen with a motorcycle helmet in an effort to create an opening.

When the glass remained intact, another bystander took over and continued hitting the windscreen. A third individual then attempted to break it by delivering several forceful kicks.

Despite multiple attempts, the windscreen did not shatter.

Another member of the public subsequently joined in, using the helmet to repeatedly strike the glass while others looked on.

Shortly afterwards, an SCDF fire engine arrived at the scene with emergency responders taking over the situation.

One Person Assessed For Minor Injuries

SCDF said one individual was assessed for minor injuries following the accident.

However, the person declined transportation to hospital.

No other injuries requiring hospitalisation were reported.

Driver Arrested For Suspected Drink-Driving

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that two cars were involved in the collision, although only one overturned vehicle was clearly visible in videos shared online.

Following investigations at the scene, police arrested a 29-year-old male driver for suspected drink-driving offences.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the arrested individual was the driver of the overturned vehicle.

Investigations are currently ongoing.

Cleanup Operations Conducted At Scene

Images taken after the crash showed workers placing traffic cones around the affected area while carrying out recovery operations.

Road debris and damaged infrastructure were cleared from the junction as crews worked to restore normal traffic conditions.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with drink-driving and the importance of remaining vigilant on the roads, especially during evening hours when visibility may be reduced.
