Singapore households will soon pay slightly more for rubbish collection services, after the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced an increase in household waste collection fees starting from 1 July 2026.
The revision affects both public and private residential properties across the island and comes amid rising operating expenses faced by waste management companies.
According to the NEA, the fee adjustment follows a regular review process aimed at ensuring public waste collection services remain sustainable despite increasing manpower and operational costs.
HDB Residents To Pay 44 Cents More Monthly
Under the revised rates, residents living in HDB flats and non-landed private properties such as condominiums and apartments will see their monthly waste collection fee increase by S$0.44.
The current monthly charge of S$10.20 will rise to S$10.64 from July onwards.
For most households, the increase amounts to an additional S$5.28 per year.
While the increase is relatively small, it adds to the list of rising household expenses that Singaporeans have been facing in recent years, including utilities, transport and daily living costs.
Landed Property Owners Face Larger Increase
Owners of landed residential properties will see a bigger adjustment.
The monthly waste collection fee for landed homes will increase by S$1.50, rising from S$34.00 to S$35.50 per month.
On an annual basis, this translates to an additional S$18 in refuse collection costs.
The higher fee reflects the greater operational requirements involved in collecting waste from landed residential estates compared to high-density housing developments.
Fee Revision Linked To Rising Costs
NEA explained that the adjustment is intended to reflect higher operating and manpower costs faced by Singapore’s public waste collectors.
The agency noted that waste collection fees are reviewed periodically to ensure service providers can continue maintaining reliable and efficient refuse collection services across the country.
Singapore’s waste management sector has also been dealing with increasing labour costs, vehicle maintenance expenses and fuel-related operational costs in recent years.
The previous revision to household waste collection fees was implemented in 2024.
U-Save Rebates Can Offset Costs For HDB Households
For HDB residents, the government noted that the increase can be partially or fully offset through U-Save rebates, depending on the household’s eligibility.
U-Save rebates are designed to help Singaporean households manage utility and conservancy-related expenses.
The next scheduled U-Save disbursements will take place in:
- July 2026
- October 2026
- January 2027
Eligible households will automatically receive the rebates without needing to submit an application.

The new waste collection fees will take effect from 1 July 2026 and will be reflected in residents’ monthly utility or service charges, depending on their housing type.
While the increase may appear modest, it marks another adjustment to essential household services as Singapore continues to grapple with rising business and labour costs.
