According to the Singapore Police Force, officers received a call for assistance at around 3.15am on 14 June along Admiralty Road West.

A video shared on Facebook page SGRV Admin showed the man speaking to a truck driver before lying flat on his back in the middle of the road.

Several motorists and passers-by were seen trying to alert and stop oncoming vehicles to prevent an accident.

Arrested For Public Drunkenness

Police said the 26-year-old was arrested for public drunkenness. He is also being investigated for mischief.

Investigations are currently ongoing.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Dangerous Behaviour Could Have Led To Serious Accident

Although the incident ended without any reported casualties, lying on a live roadway in the middle of the night could have easily resulted in a serious or even fatal accident.

Heavy vehicles, including trucks that frequently use Admiralty Road West, may have limited reaction time, especially in low-visibility conditions during the early morning hours.

The actions of nearby motorists and members of the public who helped warn approaching vehicles may have prevented a more serious outcome.

Under Singapore law, being drunk and disorderly in public can result in police action, particularly if the person’s behaviour poses a danger to themselves or others.

Police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

What do you think? Should there be stricter penalties for dangerous behaviour on public roads, even if alcohol is involved?
