The fatal crash took place at around 7pm on June 16 along Jalan Lestari Hijau 1 in Taman Lestari Hijau, Kulai, near the YTL Green data centre development.

According to authorities, five people were travelling inside the Proton X70 when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV may have entered the opposite lane before colliding with an oncoming lorry.

Mother And Son Died At The Scene

Emergency responders from the Kulai Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 7.36pm and immediately deployed a rescue team to the location. Firefighters from Pekan Nanas also assisted, bringing the total number of personnel involved to 14.

Rescuers arrived at approximately 7.55pm and discovered that two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. Special rescue equipment was used to extricate them from the wreckage.

Three other passengers inside the SUV, aged between 11 and 60 years old, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for further treatment.

The 33-year-old lorry driver was not injured.

Kulai district police chief ACP Tan Seng Lee said early findings indicate that the Proton X70 may have crossed into the opposite lane before colliding with the empty container lorry.

However, authorities stressed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
