According to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), the operation took place from Jun. 15 to 19 and targeted various locations across Singapore, including Chai Chee, Boon Lay, Bras Basah, Geylang, Orchard, Serangoon, Telok Blangah and Woodlands.

Authorities said the youngest person arrested was a 15-year-old student who was detained for suspected drug abuse.

More than S$7,000 worth of drugs seized

During the operation, CNB officers seized various controlled substances estimated to be worth more than S$7,000 in total.

The drugs recovered included approximately:

  • 97g of cannabis
  • 49g of methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”
  • 7g of heroin
  • A small amount of “Ecstasy”

Drug-related paraphernalia were also confiscated during the enforcement actions.

Follow-up investigations led to additional arrests

On Jun. 17, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the Bedok North area and arrested a 57-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug-related offences.

Following further investigations on the same day, officers arrested two additional Singaporean men aged 36 and 70 for suspected drug abuse.

Authorities also seized around 3g of “Ice” and a small quantity of “Ecstasy” from the suspects.

Nightlife establishments targeted in joint operation

Separately, CNB worked alongside the Singapore Police Force and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to carry out enforcement checks at five nightlife establishments between Jun. 18 and 19.

Close to 130 people were screened during the operation, while 61 individuals underwent saliva tests after officers suspected possible drug consumption.

A 26-year-old female foreign national was subsequently arrested for suspected drug abuse.

Investigations are ongoing

CNB said investigations into the activities of all arrested suspects are still ongoing.

Singapore maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance towards drug offences, with authorities regularly conducting island-wide operations to disrupt drug trafficking networks and deter drug abuse.

Under Singapore law, those found guilty of drug-related offences can face severe penalties, including lengthy jail terms, hefty fines, caning and, for certain trafficking offences involving significant quantities of controlled drugs, the mandatory death penalty.
