Bro, let me just vent here because my heart is seriously paining right now. Standard story: got rejected by this girl at work. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, I am quite obese—175cm, 101kg. When she hit me with the “sorry, you’re not really my type, I prefer guys who look after themselves” line, I took it on the chin. Fair enough, right? Healthy lifestyle and all that. I even told myself, “Okay, wake-up call. Time to make full use of the activeSG gym and all the park connectors/footpaths in Singapore to clock my 10k steps and burn this fat.” I was genuinely motivated to change.
Fast forward just three weeks later. THREE WEEKS, BRO.
We were ending work, standard peak hour rush. I walked out of the office building and saw her standing by the driveway waiting for someone. Next thing I know, this massive, gleaming black Mercedes S-Class pulls up. The doors open, and her new boyfriend steps out to fetch her.
Guys, I swear to god, this man was easily double my size. If I am 101kg, this brother was pushing at least 150kg. Broad, round, absolute unit. But the moment she smiled, hopped into the passenger seat, and the soft-close doors went thud, it hit me like a BMT route march.
Weight was never the criteria, eh. It’s just how fat the wallet is.
All that talk about “health” and “looking after yourself”? Standard corporate HR template excuse just to reject a low-SES guy. If you are fat and take MRT, you are “unhealthy” and “lazy.” But if you are double the size and drive an S-Class with a nice car plate, suddenly you are “prosperous,” “cute,” and “capable.” The double standard is damn real.
I’m just standing there at the bus stop, looking at my EZ-Link card, feeling like absolute garbage. Money really talks in this country. No money, no talk, even your weight becomes a crime. Sad to say, it’s not the body mass index they care about—it’s the bank account balance.
Anw, I’m still gonna go for my walk tonight at the park connector. Not for her, but because looking at that S-Class made me realize I need to save money on public transport so I can afford my own luxury asset next time. Life is unfair, bro. Rant over.
