My Child Is Barely 2 Years Old And Can’t Talk Yet, The PlayGroup Teacher Say Ask Them Do Show & Tell

I don’t want to mention which school or names la, but they are literally everywhere, you all also know which major franchise chains I’m talking about.

My child is barely 2 years old and cannot even talk properly yet. Then suddenly, the playgroup teacher drops a message in the school app asking us to prepare the kids for “Show & Tell” next week. Hello?! Are you kidding me or what? Open your eyes big big and look at the class leh. 90% of the children there are just 1 plus, going on 2. Those who can “talk” can only mumble a few basic words like “ball”, “car”, or “bye bye”, that’s it. The rest of the time they are just drooling, snatching toys, and staring blankly into space.

Now still expect us parents to prepare materials for the child to do Show & Tell? Prepare what? A full PowerPoint presentation on their favorite soft toy? Cut out vanguard sheet and paste photos? For what? In the end, it’s not the kid doing the showing and telling, it’s the parents doing the homework at 11 PM after a long day at work. Then the kid just stands there holding a piece of paper, going “uh, uh” while the teacher takes photos for the portal. Might as well I just go down to the center and do the presentation myself, right?

Seriously, the teacher got some stupid corporate KPI to hit ah? Want to show HQ that the curriculum is very “holistic” and creating future TED Talk speakers at 20 months old? Knn absolute nonsense leh. Just let the toddlers play with Play-Doh, learn how to share, and eat their snacks in peace can or not? Don’t bring this kiasu, toxic wayang culture into playgroup. We pay so much school fees every month not for you to stress the parents out with useless projects just to tick a checklist. Really bo chiah, so sian.
