A Singapore influencer has gone viral after sharing how she confronted a man she accused of secretly taking photos of her butt while she was playing pickleball at a public court.
The video, posted by 28-year-old content creator Kasey Avarielle Low, has attracted more than 500,000 views on Instagram, with many praising her for speaking up about the incident.
Low said she hopes her experience will encourage others not to stay silent if they encounter similar situations.
Friend Spotted Suspicious Behaviour During Game
The alleged incident took place on July 18 while Low was playing pickleball with friends at an HDB void deck court in the northeast of Singapore.
According to Low, one of her friends noticed a man standing off to the side, appearing to hide while holding his phone vertically and leaning as though he was zooming in.
Her friend’s husband approached the man to ask if he had been filming, but he denied doing so.
Although the group could not immediately confirm what he had recorded, Low decided to confront him herself instead of letting the matter go.
She said she would have apologised if she had been mistaken, but felt it was important not to ignore suspicious behaviour if there was a possibility someone was being victimised.
Deleted Photos Allegedly Found On Phone
Low approached the man and asked to see his phone’s photo gallery.
She said there were initially no images of her in the main gallery. However, after asking to check the “Recently Deleted” folder, she allegedly found several rows of zoomed-in photos focusing on her buttocks.
According to Low, she deleted the images herself before confronting the man further.
She claimed he offered different explanations during the exchange, first denying that he had taken any photos before later saying the images were accidental or that he had only intended to photograph the pickleball game.
Low rejected those explanations, saying the images were clearly focused on her.
She added that the man only left after her boyfriend arrived and told him to leave the area.
Influencer Urges Victims To Speak Up
Low said she had experienced similar incidents before but had previously been too shocked to react.
This time, she chose to post the video publicly in the hope that other women would feel more confident speaking up if they found themselves in similar situations.
She also responded to online comments suggesting she was “asking for it” because of what she was wearing, explaining that she had been dressed in running shorts during the game.
Low stressed that harassment is never justified regardless of a person’s clothing, adding that she has also experienced inappropriate behaviour while wearing long sleeves and long pants.
She encouraged anyone who feels unsafe to seek help from friends, family members or their partner rather than dealing with such experiences alone.
No Police Report Filed Despite Regrets
Although Low did not lodge a police report, she later said she regretted that decision.
She explained that she deleted the images herself and was unsure whether there was still sufficient evidence for a report.
Looking back, she believes reporting the matter would have been the better course of action, even if the outcome had only been a warning, as it might have discouraged similar behaviour in the future.
Under Singapore law, voyeurism is a criminal offence. The Penal Code makes it illegal to intentionally record another person’s private parts, including buttocks, without consent where the person would reasonably expect privacy. Police investigations are typically required to determine whether an offence has been committed based on the available evidence and the circumstances of each case.
