The incident took place in Mae Hong Son and was shared by Pang Mapha Police Station on Facebook, where the video quickly attracted tens of thousands of reactions.

Rider blocks car after alleged hit-and-run

According to the police post, the woman allegedly collided with a motorcycle before attempting to leave the scene.

The motorcyclist, who suffered minor injuries, parked his motorcycle in front of the woman’s black car to stop her from driving away.

Footage recorded by the rider shows the woman opening her car door but remaining seated while speaking in English.

The rider can be heard telling her in Thai that she had hit his motorcycle, attempted to leave without apologising and damaged his bike while causing scratches to his arms.

Woman continues speaking English

The woman later got out of the vehicle and continued speaking in English, although much of what she said was difficult to understand.

Throughout the exchange, the motorcyclist repeatedly urged her to stop pretending to be a foreigner and speak Thai.

Towards the end of the encounter, the woman said, “I’m sorry,” in English.

Pang Mapha Police Station did not disclose how the dispute was eventually resolved or whether the motorcyclist pursued legal action.

Video sparks thousands of reactions

The clip quickly gained traction on Thai social media, receiving more than:

Many users responded with humorous remarks, joking about the woman’s apparent attempt to communicate in English after the crash.

The incident also reminded many netizens of a similar case reported in Bangkok in April last year.

In that case, a woman involved in a collision in the Ramkhamhaeng area was also filmed pretending to be a foreigner and speaking English after crashing into two vehicles.

Police later found two bottles of alcohol inside her car and escorted her to a police station, although the outcome of that case was not publicly disclosed.
