Cat A COE Drops From Record High, But Still Remains Above S$126,000

Singapore’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums saw mixed movements in the latest bidding exercise on 22 July 2026, with prices for most car categories easing slightly after reaching record levels earlier this month.

The biggest change came in Category A, which is meant for smaller and less powerful cars as well as eligible electric vehicles. The premium fell by S$3,000, dropping from a record S$129,000 in the previous exercise to S$126,000.

Meanwhile, Category B, which covers larger and more powerful cars and electric vehicles, also saw a slight decline. Prices dipped by S$999 to S$129,890, compared with S$130,889 previously.

Open Category Inches Higher

Unlike the other passenger car categories, the Open Category (Category E) recorded a small increase.

The premium edged up from S$129,801 to S$129,971. These certificates can be used for almost any vehicle type except motorcycles, although they are typically used to register larger cars.

Because Open Category COEs are transferable, dealers often purchase them in advance, allowing them to register vehicles without waiting for the next bidding exercise.

Commercial Vehicles Fall, Motorcycle COEs Stay Above S$10,000

For commercial vehicles under Category C, premiums eased by 1.2%, falling from S$95,000 to S$93,889.

Motorcycle COEs (Category D) increased by just S$1, rising from S$10,201 to S$10,202.

This marks the second consecutive bidding exercise where motorcycle COE premiums have remained above the S$10,000 mark. It is also the fourth time in 2026 that Category D prices have exceeded five figures.
