Guys, I need to vent because I cannot standard this level of hypocrisy.
Matched with this guy on Bumble last week. On his profile, under bio, he literally wrote: “Just a humble guy looking for something real.” Chatting online was okay, seemed quite down-to-earth, so we decided to meet up for dinner at a café in Holland Village.
The moment he sat down, the “humble” act immediately threw out the window.
First thing he did? Didn’t even say hi properly, just slammed his Mercedes key right in the middle of the table. Not on the side, okay? Dead center, like a centerpiece at a wedding.
Then come the order time. When the waiter came, this guy took out his wallet. A super loud, huge LV logo leather wallet. But wait, it doesn’t end there. He didn’t just pull out one card. He slowly, deliberately opened the wallet, fanned out FIVE metal credit cards (got AMEX Centurion/Platinum, Citi Prestige, all the flex cards), held them like he playing poker, and asked me: “Eh, you think which card I should use today? So hard to choose.” Bro, you buying $18 avocado toast, not buying a flat.
Throughout the meal, every 5 minutes he was adjusting his thick gold chain around his neck. Like bro, your neck itchy or you want me to inspect the 24K purity?
And the best part? While doing all these ridiculous flexes, he kept repeating: “Honestly ah, I’m very simple one. I don’t like high maintenance girls. I prefer humble lifestyle, you know?”
I was sitting there dying inside, holding my iced matcha, trying so hard not to roll my eyes into another dimension. If this is his definition of “humble”, I really don’t want to know what his flex mode looks like.
Total $80 bill came, he paid (using his precious metal card, of course), then asked if I wanted him to drive me home in his Merc. I immediately said I need to take MRT go meet my friend.
Anyone else encountered this kind of “fake humble” flex God in SG dating scene before? Or am I just unlucky? ðŸ˜
