A viral video showing a man repeatedly charging into fuel pumps at a petrol station in Johor has prompted Malaysian police to issue a public clarification, revealing that the individual is undergoing medical treatment for existing health conditions.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, sparked concern among viewers, with some speculating that the man was attempting to injure himself. Police have since urged the public not to spread unverified claims about the incident.
According to the Tangkak District Police Headquarters, the man has recognised medical issues and is receiving treatment. Authorities also confirmed that his family has stepped forward to address the rumours surrounding the viral clip.
Viral Footage Shows Unusual Behaviour At Petrol Station

The 35-second video begins with the man, dressed in an orange outfit and wearing a motorcycle helmet, moving erratically around a motorcycle that had fallen onto its side inside the petrol station.
He is then seen running directly into one of the fuel pumps, causing himself to fall onto the ground before quickly getting back to his feet. Moments later, he sprints into another pump at full speed. When the collision does not knock him over, he immediately throws himself into the same pump again.
The incident continues as the man runs across the forecourt, nearly stumbling over the fallen motorcycle before heading towards another fuel pump. However, he instead collides with the front of a motorcycle that was being refuelled, with the rider briefly helping him regain his balance.
Man Leaves Petrol Station Before Falling Again
After the collision, the man suddenly ran out of the petrol station, stepping over the motorcycle that remained on the ground. He eventually lost his footing again and fell in the middle of the road outside the premises.
The unusual sequence of events quickly attracted widespread attention online, leading many social media users to question whether the man had deliberately attempted to hurt himself or posed a danger to others at the petrol station.
The incident reportedly took place at a petrol station along Jalan Payamas in Tangkak, a town located in northern Johor.
Police Say Man Has Medical Conditions
In a statement released on 24 July, Tangkak police chief Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib confirmed that officers were aware of the viral video and the speculation it had generated online.
He explained that the man has underlying health problems and is also a registered holder of a disability card. Police added that he has a documented history of receiving treatment at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar.
Authorities stressed that the incident should not be interpreted without knowing the full circumstances, as inaccurate assumptions could cause unnecessary distress to the individual and his family.
Family Lodges Police Report To Stop Speculation
Police also revealed that the man’s family lodged a police report on 23 July to counter misinformation circulating on social media regarding the incident.
Superintendent Roslan urged members of the public to refrain from sharing misleading information or making assumptions about the man’s condition. Instead, he encouraged anyone with genuine concerns about public safety or security to report the matter directly to the authorities.
The clarification serves as a reminder that viral videos often lack important context, and that individuals experiencing medical or mental health challenges should not become the subject of unfounded online speculation.
