A 22-year-old man is set to be charged after he was allegedly caught driving two different deregistered vehicles without a valid driving licence on two separate occasions within just five days.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said the incidents took place in Bedok and Punggol in June 2026. A second man, aged 50, will also face charges over a separate incident involving driving without a valid licence.
Police stressed that motorists who drive illegally or operate deregistered vehicles put themselves and other road users at risk, adding that enforcement against such offences remains a priority.
Two separate incidents within five days
According to the police, the first incident involving the 22-year-old occurred on Jun. 14 at around 12:50am when Traffic Police officers stopped him along Bedok Reservoir Road.
Checks allegedly revealed that he was driving a deregistered car despite not holding a valid driving licence.
Just four days later, on Jun. 18 at approximately 10:20pm, officers allegedly found the same man behind the wheel of another deregistered vehicle along Edgedale Plains in Punggol. Investigations found that he was again driving without a valid licence.
The 22-year-old is expected to be charged with multiple offences, including driving without a valid driving licence, operating a motor vehicle without insurance coverage and using deregistered vehicles on public roads.
Separate case involving 50-year-old driver
In a separate case, a 50-year-old man was stopped by a Traffic Police officer along Jurong West Street 73 at around 5:20am on Apr. 14.
He was allegedly found to be driving without holding a valid driving licence. Police also said the vehicle he was using did not have the required motor insurance coverage.
He will face charges for driving without a valid driving licence as well as using a motor vehicle without insurance.
Heavy penalties for traffic offenders
The Singapore Police Force reminded motorists that driving without a valid licence and using deregistered vehicles are serious offences that can carry severe penalties under Singapore law.
A person convicted of driving without a valid driving licence may face up to three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to S$10,000, or both. Repeat offenders face even harsher penalties of up to six years’ jail, a fine of up to S$20,000, or both.
Using a vehicle without valid insurance coverage carries a maximum penalty of three months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to S$1,000, or both.
Meanwhile, anyone convicted of using a deregistered vehicle can be jailed for up to two years, fined up to S$20,000, or receive both punishments. Repeat offenders may face imprisonment of up to four years, fines of up to S$40,000, or both.
Police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases involving unlicensed drivers or deregistered vehicles, emphasising that road safety is a shared responsibility.
