A car owner has appealed for witnesses to come forward after alleging that a man deliberately damaged the windscreen wiper of a parked vehicle at Eastpoint Mall, resulting in damage to multiple parts of the car.
According to a social media post shared by SGRV, the incident allegedly took place at around 6.15pm on August 3 at Level 3 of Eastpoint Mall’s car park. The owner claimed that dashcam footage captured an individual approaching the parked vehicle shortly after the owner had exited the shopping centre.
The owner alleged that the man intentionally bent the vehicle’s windscreen wiper, causing damage not only to the wiper itself but also to the front bonnet and the car’s vinyl wrap. The incident has since attracted widespread discussion online after photos of the alleged suspect were circulated on social media.
Owner Says CCTV Footage Available
In the post, the owner described the act as an unnecessary case of vandalism that resulted in avoidable repair costs and inconvenience.
The owner also issued a direct message to the individual seen in the footage, urging him to come forward and accept responsibility before the matter escalates further. According to the post, CCTV footage of the incident is also available, and the owner said a report would be made to the relevant authorities if there was no response.
The owner further remarked that the man appeared to be carrying what looked like a coconut drink. While questioning whether the individual had been intoxicated or was simply acting recklessly, the owner stressed that neither would justify damaging another person’s property. The post also appealed to anyone who recognised the individual or witnessed the incident to provide information via private message.
