SBS Transit has lodged a police report after a man posted a TikTok video appearing to show him attaching a mobile phone to the back of a public bus before riding a motorcycle behind it.

The video, which was posted on November 1, showed the man taping a phone to the rear of an SBS Transit bus while it was stationary along Jalan Besar.

The subsequent footage appeared to show the recording from the attached phone, with the man riding a motorcycle behind the moving bus as several other vehicles travelled alongside him.

The video carried the caption: “When public transport becomes your film crew.”

SBS Transit Says Stunt Could Endanger Road Users

The incident caught the attention of SBS Transit, which subsequently made a police report.

In response to media queries, SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said the company took a serious view of the incident and did not condone such behaviour.

She added that the actions could potentially put both the individual and other road users at risk.

The original video was reportedly filmed at around 7am, according to its caption.

The TikTok user also claimed that no laws had been broken and promised to release a second video explaining how he retrieved his phone.

Man Claims Phone Was Never Left On Bus

Following the backlash, the TikTok user uploaded another video addressing what he described as negative comments from viewers.

He revealed a supposed plot twist, claiming that he had never actually left his phone attached to the bus.

Instead, he said another person had filmed him using a DJI camera mounted on a separate motorcycle, creating the impression that the footage came from a phone attached to the bus.

The man maintained that the entire stunt was filmed at around 7am and claimed that no laws had been broken.

He also promised to share the behind-the-scenes footage to explain how the video was produced.

Bus Lane Rules Also Raised By Netizens

Some viewers also questioned whether the motorcyclist had been travelling in a bus lane while following the bus.

The man responded that the footage was recorded at 7am.

In Singapore, restricted bus lane operating hours begin at 7:30am, meaning the timing could be relevant to the concerns raised by viewers.

However, the police report by SBS Transit remains a separate matter concerning the potential safety risks of the stunt.

The man has not provided further details in the information available, and Mothership said it had contacted him for clarification.

Whether the phone was actually attached to the bus or the scene was staged using another camera, the incident has raised questions about the lengths some social media users may go to produce viral content.
