A commuter was caught on video shaking his fist and threatening to punch a bus driver after becoming upset that the driver did not immediately open the doors for him.
The incident happened on 4 November aboard Go-Ahead bus service 136 along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
According to the bus operator, the driver had signalled for the man to wait while the bus was preparing to enter the bus stop.
The bus also had to account for a concrete barrier at the bus stop, which prevented the doors from being opened immediately for safety reasons.
Passenger Continued Shouting at Driver
Footage of the confrontation was shared on Instagram, showing the man aggressively confronting the driver while the bus was moving.
Go-Ahead said preliminary investigations found that the passenger had initially been waiting at the bus stop and gestured for the driver to move the bus forward.
However, after boarding, he reportedly became agitated and continued verbally abusing the driver despite being given an explanation.
The confrontation lasted approximately two minutes before the passenger eventually moved to the back of the bus.
Bus Operator Reviewing CCTV Footage
Go-Ahead said it was aware of the incident and expressed support for its bus captain.
The operator stressed that verbal abuse against its employees was unacceptable and would not be tolerated.
The incident remains under investigation, with CCTV footage being reviewed.
The video has also drawn criticism online, with commenters expressing concern that confronting a bus driver while the vehicle is moving could put other passengers at risk.
