Both dogs (one senior GR – est 11 years old and one JRT est 7-8 years old) were discovered to be in a pitiful and heart wrenching situation over the weekend. It was pouring heavily and the poor GR was drenched while the JRT was on an extremely short leash that could barely allowed him to lie down.

On further observations, we noticed that the JRT did not have access to water and the bowls that were placed nearer to the GR were extremely small.

This situation has lasted for months but the feedback provider noticed the chain for the JRT was getting shorter. Out of desperation, the feedback provider lodged a report with AVA, SPCA and CDAS. As it was a weekend, we wrote a letter and left it in their letterbox. Similarly SPCA left a calling card too.

This morning we received a call from the lady owner. She openly admitted that she does not like dogs and is also the one who refused to unchain the dogs because she simply can’t stand the stench of their pee/ poo. She further mentioned that her kids left her to care for them after leaving Singapore for overseas assignment.

She wanted to dispose the dogs ASAP. We told her that we needed time to rehome the dogs and also advised her to bring the dogs for a health check so as to be fair to the potential adopters. She refused and wanted to speak to AVA instead.

Things happened too quickly and before we know it, they were surrendered to AVA earlier this afternoon.

We are sure that these two dogs were once loved but now left to the mercy of an uncaring family member.

It is sad that these two fur babies are now at the pound. Probably frightened and confused. And left to wonder why did their own family abandon them…

Please help us to share this post and tag anyone who’s keen to adopt senior pets. We will work with AVA or it’s rehoming partners to bail them out. They are friendly and definitely deserve better owners.
