RESIDENTS USED NEA GRAVITRAP AS AN ASHTRAY AT KATONG AREA

Its been at least 2 years since NEA deployed Gravitraps around HDB estates and public areas. There are currently an estimated 50,000 of such traps in Singapore.

The trap is designed by NEA and serves as a trap to attract female Aedes adult mosquitoes to lay eggs. The trap will capture the mosquito and prevent the offsprings of the female mosquito from leaving the trap. It also traps other types of mosquitoes as well.

The distinctive-looking mosquito which carries Dengue

While NEA is putting in the effort to fight against mosquitoes, residents abused the container as used it as an ashtray.

Please support the continuous effort of keeping Singapore safe for the prevention of Dengue, Zika and other diseases. Not to mention the irritating itch!
