According to Hong Kong health authorities, earlier today they reported that a pet dog has been quarantined after the dog who belongs to a confirmed case in Hong Kong was found with traces of the Coronavirus.
Test samples from the dog’s nasal and oral swipes found “weak positive” traces of the virus, it is unclear if it will transmit to other animals or humans.
Although the dog is found with the virus, the dog shows no signs of getting sick and no onset symptoms.
A further test is currently conducted by Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to confirmed if the dog has the virus.
Currently, there is no conclusive evidence that shows if animals can be infected with the virus. The pet dog is currently quarantined and will be isolated for at least two weeks.
