39-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR USING CRIMINAL FORCE AGAINST SAFE DISTANCING AMBASSADOR

According to the Police media release, a 39-year-old man has been arrested after using criminal force to deter the duties of a public servant.

On 12 April 2020, the Police were alerted to a dispute between a Safe Distancing Ambassador (SDA) and a man along Hougang Avenue 8.

Investigations revealed the man had hit the SDA’s hand, causing her phone to drop. This came after he was told not to loiter in the public. After hitting the SDA he ran off.

Police CCTV was reviewed and investigations lead to the identity of the man, the man was arrested by offices from Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 17 April 2020.

If he is found guilty of using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of her duty, under Section 353 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence is punishable with an imprisonment term of up to four years, a fine, or both.
