SG AND MY POLICE JOINT FORCE TO BRING DOWN LOVE SCAM SYNDICATE

According to a media release, The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Royal Malaysia (RMP) Police had join forces to bring down a love scam syndicate in Kuala Lumpur (KL).

The operation was carried out on the 19 May 2020, 4 suspects were arrested, which includes 1 Malaysian woman and 3 Nigerian men.

The RMP carry out the operation based on information provided by SPF.

The 4 arrested were involved in 8 online love scam which involved more than $400,000. Several electronic devices were found on the scene, which includes phones and laptop.

Investigation is ongoing.

“Members of the public are advised to be careful when befriending strangers online. They should also be wary when asked to send money to people whom they do not know or have not met in person before. If they are contacted by a stranger via the phone, demanding for payment to a bank account in relation to government fines or charges, remain calm and stop communicating with him immediately, because this is most probably a scam.
